This is the story of my '64 Vespa 150 - how it became mine and how it has given me a new vespatude. I'll be recording the neat places I visit, the different things I do to make the Vespa my own, and - oh yeah - those reactions I get from both friends and strangers.

Falling for Falls Park

I had a couple of hours this afternoon to get out on the Vespa, so I grabbed my camera and headed down to Falls Park on the Reedy River in downtown Greenville. I went the back way so that I could drive through Cleveland Park and on over to the County Square. There by the entry to the Governor's School for the Arts there is an entry into the park that allows you to get a nice view of the Liberty Bridge.

I left there and headed back around to what I call the Bowater side of the park. That is where the first picture above was taken. Below is another picture taken near the bridge. I had so many people stop to talk to me. I even had someone drive by and ask, "Hey, is that a VBB?" I was impressed. It actually kind of surprised me. Turns out it was a guy from a nearby city who has his own vintage Vespa. He is going to send me some information about local scooter clubs. It is nice the sense of community Heebie seems to create!

The weather in the coming week looks like it will be great. Maybe I'll find a new place to fall for...

What happened to the sidecar?!! That one is awesome. I actually emailed them and asked if they would sell the sidecar alone. They were asking almost as much as the combos go for on ebay. I passed on it. Let me know if you ever want to unload it. Glad to you hear you're back on the road. I can't wait for it to warm up a bit. Too cold for me still.

We are 2 scooterists living in Anderson, SC right now, and I think the guy in your post was our friend Denny. Jason and I (Teri) have 2 scoots right now and number 4 in parts, P210, Super, A Sprint V (coming from Atlanta this week), and a Rally 200! We put together a group of people in Clemson who have vintage scoots (the Esso-b's) and would love to go riding with you, you ride with us, etc. Please sign up on the group, (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/esso-bs/ )
or email me pdxtrixie@yahoo.com! Great to know you are in the area...

I still have the side car. I'm just waiting until I have the bugs worked out on the bike before putting it back on. Plus, it is a royal pain to take it off and put it on. I would really like to modify the way it attaches to the scoot so that it won't take so long. I'm definitely keeping the little pod!

Thanks for the invite, Teri. I went by today to sign up at the group. Soon as the moderator let's me in, I'll swing by again.
